  • “Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” Douglas Adams

Welcome to a skeptical look at changes.

Darn!!! Where’s my candy cigarettes??

Every day…we dance with change

  • Relationships.
  • Work.
  • Growing UP, or OLD, or CRAZY.

I’ve had plenty of battles between my Sweetie-Pie-Self and my Inner Hooligan when it comes to change. I’m sharing them with you, starting with Grandma Moses’ advice:

Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.

And there you have it. Sinner and Saint. This means I’ve got the credentials to poke fun of the journey we’re all on.(It’s called a birth certificate.)  Okay…it’s also called being a mom, wife, friend, annoying relative, advertising director, college instructor, freelance writer, and goofball neighbor.

On the tabs at the top of the blog, there’s a Two Pan Page. I gouge the past, making us see how much has changed before we even arrived on the planet.

In other posts I rattle the present.  And the conclusion I’m bullied into touting:
Change is inevitable…no matter how much I squint at it. (However, it usually looks a little better through squinty eyes).

I’m now reveling in the Grace Kelly arc of my life. (Which means I’ve finally gained enough confidence to forget the Clairol and flourish my Okie accent. To let my roots show, and give a gleeful, erudite sniff at what folks think.

It’s all about humor and hope..which helps with change.

Thanks for joining me as I try to miss the ground.

I was so tickled to see your not so smiling face in the Comments section of my blog the other day. You are a hoot and a half. Glad some thing never change. I wanted to leave a comment on your post about retirement, but could not find a place to do so. I looked at your recent post, and still couldn’t find a spot. Did you close your comments, or am I losing it, LOL? Anywho, just wanted to pop in and say hello. xo, Margie

Hi Margie, I’m so glad to hear from you. I kind of kept up with blogs during the summer. Well, let me put it this way: I tried to read everyone once a month. I’ve piled on too many activities and it’s cut into my “seat-time” in front of the computer. I had turned off the comments, because I felt so bad that I couldn’t get back and acknowledge each person’s comment. But I’ve gotten some hilarious email’s about turning it back on. I thought I had, but apparently I havebn’t worked the WordPress dashboard correctly.

It was so wonderful to hear from you. Thanks for taking time out for a personal message. (I feel special). Barb

      Thanks Guapsterola,
Just finished birthing another book. Now that the hoopla has quieted, I’m looking forward to visiting everyone. As a matter of fact, I’m coming over to your blog house right now. Break out the beer. (Thanks for checking on me.)

  7. Barb … I’m having trouble “following” your page. On your blog, it says I’m Following. On my blog, it doesn’t. The problem might be linked to me hitting the Follow twice (I was that enthusiastic) and then wanting to delete only one of the two. I’ll keep an eye on this as I do enjoy your writing.

  18. “Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.” How true is this. I truly believe in this and intentional living. In a study done by Harvard Univeristy (Dr. Daniel Gilbert, i think), they found that the perceived happiness of a man who won the lottery and man who lost his leg was exactly the same a year after the event. At the time of the event, one was estatic and one in despair. A year later, the man in despair had figured out how to live life fully, he had moved on. The rich man, his money spent, was back where he began.
I like this story. Wishing you the very best in Twenty-twelve, with loads of fun changes to tweak.

    Barb,
I like your “reverent” approach to life. God must have a good sense of humor to keep smiling on such antics from those who make light of his efforts. Making Light is what He’s all about, isn’t He?
